Description:Lithographic print. A caricature of Charles Pelham Villiers (1802-1898) published in Vanity Fair, 31 August 1872. He was elected as Liberal Member of Parliament for Wolverhampton in 1835 and held the seat until 1885. He was then M.P. for Wolverhampton South until his death in 1898. At 63 years, Villiers is still the longest serving member of Parliament. He was a supporter of free trade and opposed the Corn Laws and home rule for Ireland.
