Description:Alec Bedser and Jack Ikin on a promotional visit to the Royal Doulton Showrooms on Nile Street, Burslem.

Alec Bedser (born 1918) played for Surrey and England. He played 51 tests between 1946 and 1955, taking 236 wickets at 24.89 with his accurate right-arm fast-medium bowling. He retired in 1960 and became a prominent cricket selector and administrator. His twin brother Eric also played for Surrey.

John Thomas (Jack) Ikin (1918-1984) was born in Bignall End, near Newcastle-under-Lyme. He was a left-handed batsman for Lancashire and appeared in 18 tests for England between 1946 and 1955. He also had a long and productive career for Staffordshire, making his debut in 1934 and retiring in 1968.
