Description:A lantern slide view of Burnside. On the left can be seen the Almshouses established in 1672 following a charitable bequest to the village by William Rolleston. They were built on Burnside in 1712 and restored in 1892.
Beyond can be seen the thatched hayricks adjoining the Spread Eagle public house. The landlords at the time, the Robinson family, were farmers as well as publicans.
