Date:1902 - 1903 (c.)
Description:The area in the foreground, between Izaak Walton Walk and the railway station, was marshy and liable to flooding. In 1903 the Corporation bought the land and raised its level by three feet. The area was then laid out as Victoria Park, opening on 15 June 1908. The church on the horizon is St. Mary's. On the far right is the town mill, demolished in 1957; the land became part of Victoria Park and the mill wheels are still preserved where they stood. Photograph donated by Stafford Historical and Civic Society, who retain copyright ownership.
