Description:Lantern slide view of Burton races in 1825. An engraving has been superimposed over a photographic image of cloudy skies. Horse racing had taken place on Burton Meadow since 1732. This image shows the grandstand built by 1822. It was dismantled in 1842 and materials from it were used in the construction of the Congregational Chapel on High Street.
