Description:Reginald George Watkiss, shipping contractor and family butcher. He was the son of Miles (a coal miner) and Mary Watkiss, born in Armitage, baptised 31 July 1881, Brereton. The location of this shop is not known, but may have been in South Wales. Kelly's Trade Directory for 1918 has a listing at Station Road, Port Talbot so this is possibly the location of this photograph.

In 1901 Reginald was living on Glover's Hill, Brereton and his occupation was listed as school teacher. He married a Glamorgan woman around 1908. By 1911 they are living at 3 Plough Terrace, Port Talbot, Glamorgan. The 1939 Register finds him working as a barman, living in Edgbaston, Birmingham with his wife and daughter. He died in June 1957.

Carol Sanford has kindly provided some additional information: "This was my grandfather who married Gladys Rosser, who grew up in Port Talbot. He was made bankrupt just after the war because he helped the poor and moved to the Midlands. They had 2 daughters, one of whom was my mum."
