Description:Painted in 1965 by Jack Clarkson this picture shows the magnificent Municipal Hall in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Demolished in 1967 the Hall was replaced by Newcastle library. To the left of the painting the side of the old Post Office building, now a J.D. Wetherspoons, can be seen and an entrance to the Queens Gardens forms the foreground of the painting. Notice the old red telephone box to the left of the picture. The painting is in acrylic and is signed and dated bottom right by J.Clarkson,1965.
