Description:Friendly Society Banner belonging to Court St. Leonard No.809 of the Ancient Order of Foresters, Ipstones. Front has painted image of two Foresters and a shield and inscription 'Court St. Leonard No. 809 A.O.F. Ipstones' and 'Unitas Benevolentia Et Concordia'. Back has illustration of the Good Samaritan and inscription 'Go Thou And Do likewise'. Painted silk banner on silver painted softwood pole. Silk originally green and red. Now faded to pale yellow-green and pink. Silk has shattered and most of bottom half (including fringe) is missing. Painting is in good condition. Top of banner attached to pole and masking tape. Poor condition of silk is due to light damage, the banner was hung in Ipstones Church for many years, then rolled up and stored in the Church Tower. Maker: G. Tutill Ltd, City Road, London.
