Description:Sack filling and storage shed at Staton's plaster mill, Tutbury.
Prior to 1890, J.C. Staton and Company were mining gypsum at Fauld and making plaster at Shobnall, Burton-upon-Trent. Tutbury Mill was converted from a cotton mill to a plaster mill in 1890. From this date, Staton's used the mill for crushing and grindding the stone to make plaster. The mill closed in October 1968 and was demolished in 1972. The mine is still worked and is owned by British Gypsum.
