Description:Tanner's and currier's tools used at E.B. Chapman's Sheepskin Works, the Old Mill, Tutbury.

Top row:
(left) Half-moon knife, used to scrape the surface of a skin stretched on a frame.
(rights) Currier's moon knife, used to reduce the thickness of the leather.

Middle:
(top) Fleshing knife, used to remove excess flesh from the skin before tanning and curing.
(below) Unhairing knife.

Bottom:
(top) 3 slickers, used for stretching, flattening, working in oils and removing creases and wrinkles.
(below) Fluffing tool, used to give the leather a suede effect.
