Description:Many samplers include a religious or moral verse, which may be a few lines from a psalm or part of a hymn. Some go further and inscribe the lords prayer or Ten Commandments.

The verse on this sampler reads:

Jesus permit thy gracious Name to stand
As the first efforts of an infant’s hand
And while her fingers on the canvas move
Engage her tender heart to seek thy love
With thy dear children let her have a part
And write thy Name thyself upon her heart.

Jesus said suffer little child
ren And forbid them not to
come unto me for such is the kingdom of heaven.
