Description:The land between Izaak Walton Walk and the railway station was marshy and liable to flooding. In 1903 the Corporation bought the land and raised its level by three feet. The area was laid out as Victoria Park, opening on 15 June 1908.
The County War Memorial, seen to the left, was unveiled in 1923.
In the centre is the narrow gauge locomotive 'Isabel', built by W.G. Bagnall Ltd. in 1897 for the Cliffe Hill Granite Company. She returned to Stafford in 1952 and was displayed here by the park, opposite the railway station. In 1978 she was partially restored and then removed in 1984. Full restoration was completed in 1991and she was moved to Amerton Farm where she is still in use.
