Description:Large crowds watch the Peace Day celebrations in the town centre. Among those taking part in the procession were clowns on horseback, seen at the bottom of the picture. The scene was captured from the first floor of the Bear Hill block of shops (demolished 1927), and shows the Public Benefit Boot Company Ltd. on the left, and Proctors (clothes shop) just opposite. A photograph taken by Uttoxeter photographer Alfred McCann.
