Description:This photograph shows the results of the Council's tree planting scheme, designed to make the street more attractive. The houses on the left are still in existence, although now they have been mainly converted into shops. The right hand side is also little changed. Today the Walton Telephone Exchange stands at the lower end of the Eastgate Street, on the left, and the new police station occupies one side of Pitcher Bank The new County Buildings can be seen on the skyline.
