Description:This photograph was taken at the ceremony admitting new Freemen of Stafford. Freemen can qualify by Birth or Servitude. In addition they pay the "Shilling" fee and take the Oath. The Freemen of Stafford are the inheritors of the roles of the Burgesses of Stafford. Their history dates back at least as far back as 1122.

The man receiving the certificate is Albert Hall, a former supervisor and gas fitter at West Midlands Gas Stafford depot. The mayor is Mr. Trevor Reeves also a freeman of the town. Standing fourth from right is Mr Armand Chatfield.
