Description:Pair of leather child's button boots, worn by a Stafford child in the late 19th century.

Low, flat heeled, ankle boots were increasingly popular for children from the 1830s. Toes were generally square during the 1830s, rounded by the 1860s and were slightly pointed from the 1880s. During the 1840s elastic sides were also introduced.
