Description:A Collection for the Heroes of the Battle of Trafalgar
Hand-written subscription notice for a collection to assist the wounded soldiers, widows and orphans in the wake of the Battle of Trafalgar.
The battle took place on October 21st 1805 and is widely regarded as a landmark victory for Britain during the Napoloenic Wars.
Defeat at Trafalgar effectively ended French aspirations of conquering Britain.
A Subscription
The Minister, Church Warden, and principal Inhabitants in Vestry, assembled thought it right to open this Subscription for the benefit of the wounded men, widows and orphans of those who fell in the Battle off Trafalgar.
England expects every man will do his duty!!!
