Description:In 1832 Josiah Wedgwood was to stand for election in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

His supporters in Hanley and Shelton proposed to gather in the Market Square, wearing laurel, at 5pm on 27 April.

From there they would march in procession to Newcastle to join like-minded crowds.

The notice was issued by a committee from the Swan Inn in Hanley.

About this document
