Description:This photograph shows the rear end of the Ian Allan Potteries Express train, hauled by a 2-6-0 steam engine No 42922 at Leek station. The train full of railway enthusiasts stopped here for a while to take on water for the engine before proceeding north on a special day trip excursion to Macclesfield.

The rear coach had large viewing windows on the sides and rear, offering superb views of the countryside as it travelled along. The train is on the down line, and will soon be passing Rudyard Lake as it heads towards Macclesfield.
