Date:1907

Description:The Gothic building on the left was the District Bank, completed in 1907. Inside the banking hall was a hammer-beam roof and two elaborate marble fireplaces. The building was demolished in the 1970s and was replaced by the present National Westminster Bank.

The building on the right, with the porch and dormer windows, is the Alexander Hotel, on the corner of Greengate and Tipping Streets, demolished in the 1960s.
