Description:An audience of mainly women, some seated some standing, listening to a speaker on the right, at an event. This is believed to be the Uttoxeter Women's Institute Fete held in the grounds of the Girls' High School in Uttoxeter in July 1927. The fete was opened by the school's headmistress, Miss Woodhead, and Mrs W.C. Carr Taylor presided. the fete featured a tennis tournament, competitions, side shows and a gift stall. Members of Abbots Bromley WI performed dramatic sketches.

The Manor House School for Young Ladies had been taken over by Staffordshire Education Committee in 1919, and re-named Uttoxeter Girls High School. Alleyne's Grammar School merged with the Girls' High School in 1964 and became a Comprehensive in 1974.
