Date:July 1927

Description:The buildings on the left (with pediments) are the office of Eley's Brewery. The brewery was founded by John Bishop in 1860. It was enlarged in 1875 and 1879, at which point he retired and sold it to Charles Eley in November 1879. Eley was initially in partnership with Edward Bishop. On the left of the offices is the entrance to the brewery yard.

Burgess Ltd., agricultural engineers, later acquired the site and demolished most of these buildings, and put up a shop, offices and workshops. In 2002 all these buildings were demolished and the Friary Retail Park was being developed on the site in 2003.

The buildings on the extreme right were still standing in 2003.
