Description:Reverend Montague Spinney is pictured shaking hands with Mrs Malcolm Thompson (from Great Bents), on the last Sunday before his retirement (date unknown). He was a Bachelor of Music and an organ scholar.
The lady half shown at the front of the picture is Mrs. Johnson whose husband was the village pharmacist for many years.

Peter Pingree remembers:

Reverend Spinney once said of a Sunday evening service "if they wont come to me I will go to them" and the next Sunday evening we all went down to the Crown in The Square and the service was held there.
