Description:Thomas Bolton & Sons set up a copper works at nearby Oakamoor in 1852-3. By 1890 there was no more room for expansion at Oakamoor so they began building at Froghall. Major extensions followed in the 1930s, and in 1940 Froghall became the company headquarters. The works made copper wire, strip, sheet, bar, rod and tube, as well as machined components for the electrical and engineering industries.
The Brass Works was built in 1911 when production was transferred from Birmingham. The Fitting Shop is back left, then Offices for senior managers and the General Offices in front. In the background are the Boilers, Furnace and Chimney. In the foreground is the Warehouse and Casting Shop.
