Description:The Army Cadet Force (ACF) was set up for youths who were too young to join the army, making it possible for them to undergo a shorter period of training when they did become army recruits.
This photograph was taken on a training exercise in the Derbyshire hills. After marching many miles in hilly terrain, the cadets were lucky to find a mobile canteen along their route selling various wartime 'luxury' foodstuffs, such as pork pies, bread and cheese, buns, cake, chocolate biscuits and steaming hot cups of cocoa!
